Natural Stone Surfaces
Crafted for Beauty and Everyday LivingUnlike the many “natural” claims you see on food labels, natural stone is truly that – directly from nature. Each slab is unique, formed deep within the earth and quarried from locations around the world. The distinctive colors and patterns of every stone come from natural mineral deposits and geological processes over time.
At Precision Waterjet, we help you explore the natural variations of stone and select the ideal material for your space. Our team guides you through the entire process, from design to installation, to ensure your new stone surface enhances both your lifestyle and your budget.
Why Choose Natural Stone
Natural stone surfaces offer more than just visual appeal; they’re built to last. Each Natural stone brings timeless elegance and one-of-a-kind beauty to your home or commercial project. No two slabs are alike, giving your kitchen, bathroom, or workspace a truly custom finish that stands the test of time.
Each type of natural stone offers distinct characteristics and advantages:
Quartzite
A stone transformed over time, quartzite is extremely hard and colorful, with patterns that are more fluid than the speckled look of granite. It’s UV stable, resistant to etching, and ideal for both indoor and outdoor use.
Quartzite tends to be one of the higher-priced natural stones, but its combination of strength and beauty makes it a standout choice for any premium installation.
Granite
A volcanic rock formed from slowly cooled magma deep within the earth, granite is celebrated for its durability and wide range of colors. Its granular or splattered patterns make it a versatile option for both traditional and contemporary designs.
Granite is heat-resistant, does not etch, and has proven its endurance over centuries. Some varieties may lighten over time with continuous direct sunlight. A simple annual wipe-on, wipe-off sealing helps maintain its natural resilience. Granite offers one of the widest cost ranges among natural stones, from entry-level to high-end options.
Marble
Formed when limestone undergoes heat and pressure, marble’s smooth texture and distinctive veining create timeless elegance. It’s available in shades of white, gray, brown, and black. While softer and more porous than other stones, marble’s beauty makes it ideal for bathrooms, accent walls, and statement features. It’s less suited to high-use kitchens, as it can stain or etch from regular exposure to acids and spills.
Marble is considered one of the highest-cost natural stones, prized for its luxury and artistry.
Soapstone
Composed mainly of talc and other minerals like chlorite, dolomite, and magnetite, soapstone has a distinctive dark palette of greens and grays with a smooth, soft feel. It’s extremely dense, nonporous, and doesn’t require sealing. Scratches can occur but are easily repaired, and mineral oils can be used to enrich its natural color. Soapstone is an excellent choice for both residential and commercial applications and typically falls in the higher price range for natural stones.
Travertine
A form of limestone with a naturally pitted and textured surface, travertine is available in a soft range of neutral colors. It’s more porous than other stones, making it best suited for showers, floors, fireplaces, and outdoor applications rather than high-use kitchen countertops. Travertine’s natural texture adds warmth and old-world charm to any space.
